J.G. Rock Manages Extensive Renovations to Knox Presbyterian Church
J.G. Rock, Inc., the construction management division of Fry Properties, Inc. in Naperville has completed the first phase of an extensive renovation and addition to the campus of Knox Presbyterian Church in Naperville. The project includes 24,000 square feet of renovated space and 22,400 square feet of new space. The project architect is Jaeger Nickola and Associates of Park Ridge.
Renovation of the church, which was chartered in 1960, constructed in 1963 and last renovated in 1990, began in January of this year and will be completed in three phases. Phase I, completed as of Memorial Day, includes renovation of the old gym to a Multipurpose Facility, providing worship, conference, social and athletic uses. In addition, Phase I includes the addition of a Junior High Youth Room and Music Room.
Phase II provides for renovation of the Fellowship Hall and classrooms, with completion expected by Labor Day; as well as office space and a Senior High Youth Room on the lower level, to be completed by Easter, 2008.
Phase III will complete the project, with a new Commons and Sanctuary seating 572. When the project is complete, some 75% of the new facilities will be located on one level, providing much better access and flexibility for the congregation. Knox Presbyterian has grown to over 1500 parishioners. The church is located on the corner of Gartner Road and Catalpa Lane in Naperville.
